Not long ago most of the people I knew condemned my decision to decline the COVID vaccine. Beyond being a risk to myself and the world, my greatest sin was daring to write about the absurdity of accepting vaccination as a panacea.
I’ve only become more confident that the world has taken a dangerous turn for the worse and wonder when there will be a general awakening. It may unfold in ways we don’t yet imagine.
I certainly know that if I had continued to win at tennis and become a world champion, family and friends would have heeded my warnings. This last week I heard their praise for Novak Djokovic as he continued to win matches at the Australian Open; it was both welcome and disconcerting.
Those of us who have borne the weight of being deemed ignorant and dangerous because we questioned the dictates of the government and their pals in Big Pharma, find it uplifting, fascinating, and hypocritical that Novak endures as the sweetheart of the sports world.
In the heat of vaccination fever, he wasn’t allowed into the United States and Australia. There were a few sports writers who ridiculed his unvaccinated status. No one really dared to condemn him completely or demand that Novak be removed from all competition.
In an unprecedented exception to the general degradation of the unvaccinated, some mainstream commentators even dared to speak the truth about the inappropriate and illogical regulations. Political decisions kept him from participating.
His status as a beloved athlete allowed people to recognize the ridiculous decisions that prohibited Novak from entering tennis tournaments last year. Lies and fabrications were not powerful enough to repress the adoration of a champion. It is so very interesting that similar emotions were never applied to those of us who might not be glorified as athletes.
Yet in the horrific atmosphere where governments and communities exhibited extremely absurd and hostile behavior — claiming the crisis was a pandemic of the unvaccinated — Novak was given a relatively free pass.
Few dare to contradict the thinking of a triumphant, athletic superstar; particularly when he is apparently intelligent, kind, and healthy — like Novak. Whereas, scientists, doctors, lawyers, and writers, who critique or criticize a deceptive and erroneous narrative — are condemned and marginalized.
Now that he has won yet another championship, Novak is adored even more; almost as if he had done vaccine advertisements during the pandemic. If he had lost, the knives would be out, the brave pundits would have pounced, and he would have been given the blame for spreading all of the latest virus variants.
There is nothing more painful or damaging than human duplicity. The hypocrisy glows in the dark.
Yet we can take some solace as Novak is beloved and forgiven for the greatest sin of our era. And he can hold his head high, both for his incredible tennis game and standing strong against the insanity of a world that couldn’t defeat him.
We continue to watch in wonder at the spectacle, as the statistics pile up confirming the dangers and ineffectiveness of vaccines. Those of us who are not sports heroes will continue to fight for sanity and our honor.
Despite the continuing pretense, the win for Novak is a triumph for everyone who contends for truth and justice. He has provided a cornerstone of stable sensibility and opened a door for all of us; his victory lap is ours.
Novak is certainly a hero in my book and he took a lot of heat from the press, not just a little, and even in the media coverage this year at the AO they were on him about everything and he did not fold. I have been disgusted by some of the media coverage in Australia regarding him and very few had much positive to say about him and his incredible win. One must also remember that he has lost the opportunity to win more Grand-Slam Titles (would have been ahead of Nadal with this win) and has lost millions in earnings and still stayed the course. He has certainly got my vote for the tennis GOAT no doubt!
Way to go Novak! At the very least, many must be at least a little curious… how it is that he’s managed to survive the dreaded “C” without the miracle “V”.
